Rahul Tewatia is the kind of street-smart cricket player that any captain of a limited-overs team would want on his team. When asked, he can roll his arms, and his unpredictable leg spinners can fool even the best batter. He can also use the long-lever well when he is brought in to slog in the middle. His game-changing play against Kings XI Punjab in the 2020 IPL put him in IPL history.
- Domestic Career –
At the Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium on the 6th of December, 2013, the all-rounder for Haryana made his debut in the Ranji Trophy competition for the 2013-14 season against Karnataka. In First Class, he had a rough start with the bat to begin the season. His first two at-bats resulted in 17 runs being scored against him. The next day, February 25, 2017, he participated in his maiden List A game for Haryana, which was part of the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He has played in seven First Class matches and has scored 190 runs while taking 17 wickets. He has played in 21 List-A matches, scoring 484 runs and reaching a top score of 91*.
- IPL Career –
In the Indian Premier League (IPL) season of 2014, Rajasthan Royals paid Rahul Tewatia a total of 10 lakhs to play for their team. The franchise in Jaipur continued to pay him the same amount as in previous years in 2015. After two years, Kings XI Punjab offered him a contract of 25 lakhs to join their team. This came after he won his maiden game against KKR with a bowling performance of 2/18. In the same game, he had eight hits and was responsible for 15 runs batted in. Following Tewatia’s outstanding performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Delhi Capitals made him an offer of a three-crore deal, to which he subsequently assented. His salary will remain unchanged throughout the entirety of the upcoming campaign. Tewatia was transferred from the Delhi Capitals to the Rajasthan Royals as the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2020 drew closer. Tewatia made his debut in the Indian Premier League with RR in the year 2014, when the tournament was first held. He had the impression that he was heading back to a location that he was at least somewhat familiar with.
In the Royal’s eighth match of the Indian Premier League 2020 against the Kings XI Punjab, Tewatia was moved up in the lineup. After Steve Smith was run out for 50 and the Stars needed some fireworks, this decision was made. The fact that it was hard for the Haryana left-hander to hit the ball slowed down the Royals’ run chase against KXIP. Tewatia’s lackluster hitting almost made the Royals’ chase look like a joke. so much that it looked like RR might not be able to change things. Even Samson, who had just hit another fifty, was thrown off by Tewatia, who made the chase harder by scoring the first eight runs in 19 balls. The game was decided by how many runs were scored in the last four overs. Tewatia changed the outcome of the chase all by himself when he hit five sixes off of Sheldon Cottrell’s 18th over. Because of this amazing effort, an IPL game set a new record for the number of runs that were chased, and Tewatia was finally getting the recognition she deserved all over the world.
- Effortless six-hitting –
According to cricket breaking news , Rahul Tewatia has demonstrated his ability to be a power hitter throughout the past few years, and his batting average is in the sixes. It is entirely up to him to loft the ball over the barrier whenever he decides to do so. It is possible that what he did in the match against Punjab in 2020 was even greater than what he did in the match against Punjab last month. Even though GT needed only 12 runs in two balls, he hit Odean Smith for two sixes in his last two overs. This helped GT reach their target of 12 runs in two balls. GT has a lot of faith in Rahul Tewatia’s ability to maintain the good form he demonstrated at the beginning of the season even as the season progresses. The only other finisher on their team who is considered to be a specialist is Hardik Pandya, who has advanced in the team.
- Responsibility could get the best out of Rahul Tewatia –
Even though Rahul Tewatia had a lot of experience, he never made a big difference in RR’s success. The way it works on GT, though, is different. Because there aren’t many experienced players on the Titans, Tewatia has been put in charge of the team. Hardik Pandya and David Miller protect the middle order, and Shubhman Gill, who opens the batting order, is reliable. Tewatia is now fully responsible for making sure that the job gets done with the right amount of drive. So far, the player from Haryana has done a great job. In both of GT’s important innings, he or she has made important contributions to the team’s success. He scored a total of 40 runs on 24 balls while playing for the Lucknow Super Giants in the first. He helped the Titans beat the Punjab Kings by hitting two sixes on the last two balls of the second innings. This made it possible for the Titans to win the game.
- Rahul Tewatia has prior experience donning the finisher’s hat in the IPL –
Tewatia became a star in the last two Indian Premier League because he scored 53 runs in just 31 balls against Punjab (IPL). The West Indies bowler, Sheldon Cottrell, was responsible for five of the batter’s seven sixes in that inning. The standard set by Tewatia’s heroics was too high for the all-arounder to reach; the bar had been set too high. After the 2021 racing season, RR let him out of his contract because he couldn’t keep performing at the same level. After being given a second chance to prove herself, Tewatia hasn’t done anything to make GT unhappy yet.
